'Indigo Inundation 4' by Chloe Hedden
This series is an evolution of Chloe’s ‘Folds,’ where the fabric is hand-dyed before sculpting, leaving the evidence of water unaltered to reflect the experience of flooding, drowning, or inundating that inspired the work. Concerned with the impacts of climate change and rising seas, Chloe draws from the history of textile art, using fabric, yarn, and thread to explore both the relationship between humans and the earth and the challenges women have faced in art-making. These pieces serve as a space for grief, a tribute to her female ancestors, and an exploration of the emotional depths shaped by water.
