About Joel Shapiro
Born and raised in New York City in 1941, Shapiro gained international acclaim for his minimalist and abstract sculptures that often explore the relationship between form, space, and movement. The incorporation of screen prints alongside his sculptures can be attributed to his desire to explore different mediums and expand the expressive possibilites of his artistic practice.

Screen printing allows Shapiro to experiment with color, texture, and intricate details, complementing the spatial dynamics of his sculptures.
